Roof re-coating

Roofs play a crucial role in protecting our homes and buildings from the elements, but over time, they can wear down and lose their effectiveness. Re-coating a roof helps to restore its protective barrier, preventing leaks and damage caused by weather exposure. Additionally, a fresh coat can enhance energy efficiency by reflecting sunlight and reducing heat absorption. Regular maintenance, including re-coating, is essential to prolonging the lifespan of your roof and ensuring it continues to perform at its best, and remain attractive.

We are using DULUX paint, unless the customer specifically asks otherwise.

All of our quotes inluce the roof cleaning done professionally by Soft Wash ASAP. Our roof painting season is from mid spring until March (weather dependent), we do not paint during winter months.

We are trained and certified to Work At Heights (using harness systems), and erect Low Level Scaffolding.

Our Roof Repainting Assessment Process

1. Site Visit & Roof Assessment

Every roof is different, which is why we begin with a thorough on-site inspection. During the assessment, we evaluate the overall condition of the roof and identify any factors that may influence the preparation process, coating system, timeframe, and pricing.

Factors commonly assessed include:

  • Roof material and age

  • Existing coating condition

  • Rust, corrosion, moss, or lichen growth

  • Roof pitch and complexity

  • Access and safety requirements

  • Previous repairs or damaged areas

  • Surrounding environment and exposure to weather

This allows us to recommend the most suitable roof restoration solution for long-term performance and durability.

2. Discussing Your Requirements

We take the time to understand your goals, expectations, and preferences for the project. This includes discussing:

  • Desired colour options and finish

  • Budget considerations

  • Timing and scheduling preferences

  • Any specific concerns or problem areas

  • Long-term maintenance expectations

Our aim is to provide a solution tailored specifically to your property and requirements.

3. Detailed Quotation

Following the site visit, we provide a clear and detailed written quotation outlining:

  • Scope of work

  • Preparation process

  • Recommended coating system

  • Products to be used

  • Estimated project timeframe

  • Total project cost

Because roof painting is quoted individually rather than by square metre alone, our pricing reflects the true condition and requirements of your roof to ensure quality workmanship and lasting results.

4. Job Scheduling & Project Preparation

Once the quotation is accepted, we schedule the project at a suitable time and begin preparing for the work. We coordinate:

  • Project dates

  • Weather considerations

  • Site access requirements

  • Safety setup and equipment

  • Material ordering and preparation

Our team keeps communication clear throughout the process to ensure the project runs smoothly from start to finish.

Roof Treatment & Roof Wash

Every roof is professionally cleaned before painting begins. Depending on the roof condition, we carry out a roof treatment to eliminate moss, mould, lichen, and organic growth. The roof is then thoroughly water blasted to remove dirt, chalking, loose paint, and contaminants, creating a clean surface for proper coating adhesion.

Minor Roof Repairs

As part of our preparation process, we carry out minor repairs where required, including replacing loose or lifted roofing nails with roofing screws to improve roof security and durability (we do NOT provide full roofing nail replacement services). If significant repairs or structural issues are identified, we will recommend trusted roof repair specialists before painting proceeds.

Surface Protection & Masking

We take care to protect surrounding areas during the painting process. Gutters, walls, windows, pathways, landscaping, and other surfaces are masked and covered where necessary to minimise overspray and maintain a clean work environment.

Rust Treatment

Any rusted areas are properly treated prior to painting. This may include mechanical preparation, rust conversion products, or specialised primers depending on the severity and type of corrosion present. Proper rust treatment is essential for extending the life of the roof coating system.

Detail Work & Cutting In

Critical areas such as flashings, roof edges, penetrations, ridges, and areas around walls are carefully hand painted to ensure full coverage, clean lines, and attention to detail before spray application begins.

Priming

Where required, the roof is primed using the appropriate primer system for the roof material and condition. Primers help improve adhesion, seal porous surfaces, and provide additional protection against corrosion and weathering.

Application of Top Coats

Two premium top coats are professionally applied using an airless spray system to achieve an even, durable, and high-quality finish. Multiple coats help maximise colour consistency, weather resistance, UV protection, and long-term performance.

Final Clean-Up & Inspection

Once painting is complete, all masking materials, equipment, and debris are removed from site. A final inspection is carried out to ensure the roof meets our quality standards and the property is left clean and tidy.
